Giovanni began studying guitar at the age of 8. By the age of 14 he was studying composition, theory and counterpoint at the Conservatory of Alessandria with Angelo Gilardino, a pupil of Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco. He graduated with honors in 1991. Following that, he received a second degree from the Conservatory of Madrid and won first prize in the N.P. Zamboni National Guitar Competition. Giovanni began his professional career by performing more than 200 concerts around Europe playing classical and modern music.
1992 - recorded a CD of classic guitar entitled Recital Per Chitarra featuring music of Bach, Villa-Lobos, Britten and Gilardino. 1994 to 1998 - composed and recorded 4 CD’s of instumental music for the Italian label DNA: Sky, Naturalia, The Gift Of Life, and The Blue Wonder. During this time he was featured in several articles appearing in the prestigeous European magazine, "New Age & New Sounds." In the 1990’s he composed TV music for RAI and Mediaset television programs like Marco Polo, Overland, A Casa Di and score music for music libraries and publishers based in Dallas, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and Japan. 1999 - he created Sky Music Studio, a music studio designed for film and TV music. He was then employed as a composer for several series appearing on Italian National Broadcasting Television RAI. 2000 - Diabolik series score 2001 - Sandokan series score 2002 - Mata Hari series score 2002 - score for the movie The Stolen Christmas. Lodigiani participated in the 60th Venice Screening Festival with the film The Stolen Christmas. The film won the Mediterranean Cinema Prize and was featured during the Cannes Mipcom festival. 2004 - score for the film Una Cosa di Mente featuring italian stars Claudia Koll and Massimo Wertmuller 2004 - score for the film L'Età del Fuoco directed by Mauro Calvone. 2004 - score for the series Il Gatto Nero and Giovanna D'arco 2005 - Main Theme for the World Championship of Athletic in Helsinki on RAI 1 2005 - score for the series Jolanda la Figlia Del Corsaro , and the film Io Non Lo So featuring Massimo Wertmuller. 2006 - composed Battle For Avalon 2007 - realized instrumental/orchestral music and 3 news packages for SONY and News Packages for CNN 2007 - score for the Columbus Day video and first screening during the gala in the Waldorf Astoria in New York 2008 - music for NBC (Vancouver Olympics, Minute to Win) 2008 - score for The Substitute 2008 - Claang: the game score 2009 - music for CBS, HBO, ABC, NFL, RAI, Mediaset, History Channel, America's Next Top Model and more 2010 - produced 2 albums for the multi-award winning popera and epic pop singer/songwriter Romina Arena
